Melissa Juratowitch has been crowned Australia's Next Top Model for 2013, in an event that was free from the dramas of teenage fisticuffs and announcing the wrong winner on live television.

"Wow," said a visibly stunned Juratowitch. "This is insane."

"Wow ... This is insane."

The sweet and shy, 16-year-old Melbourne schoolgirl has been a frontrunner for much of this year's competition due to her ethereal looks and self-described "seven-finger forehead".

"This is insane": Melissa Juratowitch's reaction (centre) after she won the reality TV modelling competition.

Judge and mentor Charlotte Dawson has described the Melbourne schoolgirl as possessing an "alien-like" beauty.

Juratowitch beat out Shanali Martin, 16, and Nyadak "Duckie" Thot, 17, to win the coveted title at the grand final at Sydney's Star casino.

Duckie was eliminated earlier in the night's proceedings, leaving Juratowitch and Martin to fight it out for the crown.

"This will be something that I'll remember for the rest of my life," Duckie said.

As the winner, Juratowitch receives a one-year modelling contract with IMG Sydney, as well as international representation in the fashion capitals of New York, London, Milan and Paris.

She will grace the cover of Harper's Bazaar Australia and feature in an eight-page fashion spread.

edit: Just a reminder that the Australian Public had 100% of the choice who they wanted to win.
edit 2: According to a user on RGTV Melissa grew half an inch in the past few months so she is now "whopping" 5'7.

Just finished watching it, Shinali and Christina Ricci, I mean... Melissa were my faves throughout the competition so I'm happy one of them won!

I think she should have gone home after she messed up the first time...just like every other girl. The judges gave her multiple chances bc they knew they wanted her to win. That's what I think anyways. I think it would have been more interesting if shanali won. But I do have to say it was great to watch this show. Antm is such crap now. I can't even watch that anymore. Ok with the winner just think it was a setup and would have been someone else

I like Melissa. But wow, Shanali deserves it so much more than her.
